Vivre d'histoires et d'eaux fraîches
Projet

Vivre d'histoires et d'eaux fraîches

Over the course of two years, les Passeurs de Mémoire, a group of seniors from Périwelz, have revived their memories around water. Through a journey and a book, they share authentic stories: fountains, the work of washerwomen, triton fishing, so many fragments of life from a precious collective heritage. Supported by the Escaut-Lys River Contract, this project also values the richness of aquatic environments and inspires sustainable water management.

I designed the book from start to finish, from the raw content to the final production. This included everything from the structure and layout to the photos and illustrations, as well as the choices related to the finishes of the printed physical object. Editorial design integrates reflection on visual storytelling and the reading experience by combining aesthetics and clarity. I designed numerous small graphic subtleties, fonts, and illustrations to balance and enhance the nostalgic poetry of the stories, local heritage, and popular science related to aquatic environments. The photos capture moments, and the illustrations add a fun, sensory dimension. The paper, format, and production finishes make it an object that conveys meaning and emotion. It is first and foremost a guide, but it also has all the legitimacy of a beautiful book in a library.

A complete project, carried out in collaboration with Ag'y SOUT, Arrêt 59, and the Escaut-Lys River Contract, which illustrates my approach: transforming raw content into a finished, lasting editorial object.

Embark on a journey through the meanderings of memories, along the water

This logbook gives the opportunity to rediscover Preuwelz from the angle of its fountains and to look at the landscape in a different way.
