Poème 2 occupies a singular position in the Belgian theatre landscape: its productions are entrusted to authors whose primary work exists outside the stage. In shifting to orality — adaptations, new commissions or previously unpublished texts — these works take on a new dimension.
The Les Cahiers du Poème 2 collector's edition is the object that records and extends this ambition each season.
The material is twofold and different in nature: a magazine offers an aesthetic and critical companion to the production — intersecting perspectives from writers, philosophers and critics, alongside interviews with authors and performers. The second carries the text of the play.
The graphic challenge was to hold these registers within a single formal coherence without flattening their differences.
I worked from raw sources to build a layout that serves each register according to its own nature, while maintaining the unity of the object. The choice of papers — Munken Lynx and Munken Pure —, the cover with flaps, the matte-laminated box with selective varnish, the insert and ribbon: each technical decision contributes to making the edition an object equal to its literary content.
The edition was selected for the cultural programme 50° Nord (RTBF / Arte) — Dominique Cominotto's pick of the month.
